FAQ’s
The facility I am renting for my reception/party requires that all food including the cake come from a licensed baker/caterer. Are you a licensed baker?
Yes, I have a Washington State business license, a City of Renton business license, a food handlers permit, and a Health permit to prepare my cakes in a shared commercial kitchen that I rent in Renton, Washington. I am a semi homebased business. I conduct my tastings at my home but prepare my cakes in a health aproved kitchen.
Do your cakes taste as good as they look?
Yes! I receive many compliments on how moist and delicious my cakes are. I make all of my cakes and frostings from scratch and not from a mix. My ingredients for your cake are always fresh and I use only the finest ingredients.
Can I choose more than one flavor?
Yes, with stacked or tiered cakes you can have each tier a different flavor. There is no additional charge for this option, although there is an upgrade for speicalty flavors.
Does fondant taste good?
Yes, my fondant is delicious. It is custom made for me and it has a vanilla marshmallow flavor. I also have a chocolate fondant that taste like tootsie roll. I do put buttercream underneath my fondant so you have the best of both worlds.
Do you provide fresh flowers for my cake?
It is the brides responsibility to provide fresh flowers for the cake. Please let your florist know that the flowers will be placed on a cake so that they can make sure the flowers are nontoxic and pesticide free. If you would like me to place your flowers on your cake I charge $20 per tier. This cost covers my time as well as the floral wires, floral tape and water picks ect, that I use to ensure the flowers do not touch your cake.
What are the alternatives to fresh flowers?
I can make sugar paste flowers that are absolutely beautiful and you can keep them as a keepsake or you can use silk flowers.
Why is the deposit nonrefundable?
Once you sign a contract I will require a deposit to reserve your date. I limit myself to one wedding cake per weekend so that I can dedicate my attention exclusively to making and designing your cake. A lot of time, research and creative thought goes into your cake before it even gets baked. To ensure that my design does not get passed on to other bakers, I do not draw out a design until the deposit it recieved. Please shop for your baker prior to placing your deposit.
Do you require a deposit for Party cakes?
Yes. I ask for a nonrefundable 50% deposit of your cake when you book and the remainder when you pick up the cake.
When should I reserve my cake?
Please keep in mind that I don’t have employees so I make and decorate the cakes myself so I am limited to the amount of cakes that I can do in a week. As soon as you know your date you should reserve your cake. Wedding cakes or large party cakes (over 40 servings) should be reserved at least 6 months and up to 3 months before the event. Party cakes should be reserved 2 weeks before. Please see my availability calendar.
Do you base your delivery prices from your kitchen in Renton?
It depends on where your reception is and the size of your cake. If you live close to me in the Bonney Lake, Puyallup area and your cake can fit into my refrigerator ( I have one dedicated just for cakes) then I can bring your cake to my home and I will calculate your delivery from my home. This saves you money and saves me time and money so it works out for both of us.
